Change in Appointing Registrants to Council

June 2, 2022

Effective June 1, 2022, the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is implementing a new competency-based selection and appointment process for filling registrant (regulated member) vacancies on Council.

Instead of running in an election, registrants interested in serving on Council will now have the opportunity to apply to become a Council member through a competency-based, fair and objective process.

Council has sixteen members—eight of these members are registrants of the CRNA, and eight are public members appointed by the government. The new competency-based appointment process applies to filling registrant Council vacancies only. The Government of Alberta will continue to be responsible for appointing Council’s public members.
